I always hear great things about the La Roche-Posay brand so I picked up two different moisturizers to see how things would go. The Toleriane Double Repair is a lightweight creamy formula that quickly absorbs into the skin. I really enjoy using this when I’m having an acne breakout or when my skin barrier feels like it needs reset (too dry, red, etc.). It has a unique blend of prebiotics which helps to relieve my sensitive skin in its time of need. Unfortunately, I have to use this moisturizer at night though as it pills if I try to put makeup on top of it. I still love it though due to how healthy my skin looks and feels when I use the product on a regular basis.
TOLERIANE DOUBLE REPAIR MATTE FACE MOISTURIZER
La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer is for oily and combination skin types. It includes prebiotic thermal water, creamide-3, niacinamide, and glycerin. Like the moisturizer reviewed above, it is oil free, fragrance free, paraben free, and noncomedogenic. La Roche-Posay states that this specific moisturizer minimizes pores, improves skin texture, and helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
I purchased this matte product as I was looking for a daily moisturizer to wear under my makeup. I have combination skin and it can get very oily in certain places. Depending on what moisturizer I use in the morning, it can make the situation even worse and my face becomes shiny. No one likes having their makeup melt off their face throughout the day.
The texture of this matte moisturizer is gel-like and it absorbs quickly into the skin. Thankfully, I don’t struggle with a shiny face when using this product, and it provides me with adequate moisture throughout the day. However, I really struggle with this pilling on my skin no matter what type of foundation I apply overtop of it. I try to stick with mineral powder foundation (like Bare Minerals) when using this, because it seems to pill the least. I’ve experimented with different face primers to see if that would make a difference, and sadly it did not. It’s also worth noting that the hinge pieces that hold the caps onto the tubes broke off on both of my moisturizers. For this reason I was kind of disappointed in the quality of the packaging.
