The NYX Marshmellow Primer is a vegan and cruelty-free product that incorporates marshmallow root extract! The extract helps to smooth skin, hydrate, minimize texture, and even your skin tone. It creates a canvas for easy makeup application that lasts up to 16 hours. NYX sells this product for $17.00 on their website (linked below).

I love the pink tube that this product comes in, and the smell of the formula! It’s a sweet marshmallow and candy-ish scent, that in my opinion, isn’t too overpowering for a makeup primer. The product contains a lightly whipped texture so it blends into the skin quite nicely. NYX states that users can apply this product with their fingers over dry skin. Alternatively, users can apply the Marshmellow primer with a makeup sponge by dabbing it onto the skin until it dries. When I experimented with both techniques, I came to prefer the makeup sponge option. For anyone that has oily or combination skin, this technique will probably be best for you. Unfortuantely, applying it with my fingers resulted in a greasy face after a few hours.

As far as makeup application goes, the NYX Marshmellow primer blew me away. My pores were minimized, my face was hydrated, and it gave a wonderful base for my makeup to cling to. I typically use silicone based face primers and they don’t provide as much grip for my makeup. This almost has the feeling of applying foundation ontop of a light facial moisturizer. As a result, my skin was left with a nice dewy glow.

All in all, I think that NYX’s Marshmellow Primer is great to use in the cooler months when I need that extra hydration throughout the day. Unfortunately, since my skin is oily in most places I don’t think that I could wear this in the middle of summer. That’s when my mattifying and oil-control primers will likely come into play.
